I am a mixed media artist turned printmaker, born and raised in Washington county Oregon. I draw much of my inspiration from the plants, creatures, and forms we share this planet with, music and sounds of all kinds, and the art and ideologies of the generations and communities that came before us. I hope you find a feeling of connection in the art surrounding you, and encourage you to take a moment to embrace it!
My mosaic art differs from most other because I use recycled linoleum and vinyl as my medium. Since my pieces consist of discontinued samples and discarded materials, I must create my images using a limited range of color on my “palette”. That is the challenge I enjoy, putting these materials to a new and creative use.
I’ve been working with clay exclusively since 2020. I was an oil painter before. Sculpting in clay, I’m very interested in animal and human forms; what I can bring to those, how can I change, enhance or illustrate some kind of emotion in their gesture and surface. Each piece inspires me to do another.

I like colors. Well, except for beige. And taupe. Other than that, the rest of the colors are in my friend group.
I am always happy when I am making art and that happiness exudes from my work and will envelop those who view the art. Or something like that. 🙂

We are delighted to welcome everyone to the gallery during our celebrated Annual Artist Event, Nov. 10-19. This year’s theme is “We the Artists” – and “we” always have something to show and, frequently, something to say. Forest Grove and Washington County have many dedicated Valley Art enthusiasts.
For 57 years — our gallery was founded in 1966 — we have sought the best art to display and sell. Our 10-day event begins with a reception on Nov. 10, from 7-9 p.m. During the 10 days of AAE, we offer new, renewing, and current members a one-time 10% discount during the event. Members are encouraged to bring a guest with them, although they won’t receive the 10 percent discount unless they become a member for $25 that night. Look for your brochure and tickets in the mail.
There will be a raffle during our members’ night reception, with a variety of great prizes. Tickets will be available for $2 each. Buy several! The Annual Artist Event hours will be Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; and on Sunday, 12 – 4 p.m. Please join us. Come and “shop local” this holiday season and find one-of-a-kind gifts for friends or family.

Most of my life I have journaled my experiences by creating images with words. My artwork combines intricate and, at times, very simple images, often inspired by nature. These pieces expanded ways to convey more color and depth to journalling becoming the stand-alone pieces you see here. I use combinations of Ink, Watercolor, and Colored Pencils to create my abstract artwork. I have long been inspired by the glassworks of Frank Lloyd Wright’s windows, Stained Glass panels in places of worship, and lamp work. I have incorporated my skills as a silversmith, jeweler and sculptor to make my one-of-a-kind artwork.

I learned how to oil paint when I was in my late thirties. I had always thought you had to be able to draw well in order to paint well. That turns out to not be true. Finding oil painting was a great way for me to express myself and I didn’t have to be good at drawing.
Born in Nebraska and raised in Western Colorado, Zoe Stanek has found her place among the trees in Oregon’s Pacific Northwest. There, she attended Pacific University as a Creative Writing major with a double minor in Editing & Publishing and Fine Arts. She is a fiction author who takes inspiration from nature and different regions across the United States. Zoe sells pottery on Etsy and runs an art Instagram (@she_tried_art). She graduated with a BA in 2022.
Sketchbook enthusiast, art lover, illustrator, and painter, living in the great Northwest and enjoying all it has to offer. You’ll find me scribbling in bars and restaurants, sketching on street corners, doodling along riverbanks and painting in my studio. Originally from Jersey, I’ve called Oregon my home for the past 15 years.
Mom, teacher, artist? Guess so! My art is primarily photography, resin work, and digital drawings. I love capturing motherhood/parenthood and all of the joys that come with it. 🙂

Does my business need a special event to participate?
No, you can just list your business and its regular hours, address, services, etc.
Does my business need to be in Forest Grove?
Yes, we’re the 97116 Art Show and interested in boosting public engagement and tourism in Forest Grove. If your business zip code is 97116, you’re welcome to participate.
Is it really free?
Yes, you can list on our site free! Each year businesses can sponsor to be on the poster, the deadline is Oct 15. Limited to 4 businesses, $50 poster sponsorship. Email 97116artshow.com to inquire.
Does my business need to be a brick and mortar?
No, but think about how you will engage the public for non-physical spaces and list that!
May my business list events leading up to that weekend?
Yes, but most of our audience will see Paint the Town advertised for the weekend. However, do keep it to the week leading up to the art show opening Nov 21st. Did your event already happen but the items are still for sale? List that! Thinking of your ornaments, A Framer’s Touch.
Is my business allowed more than one listing?
Yes, you may list multiple events that may be happening that weekend, or your extended hours separately from an “event.” Maybe you just want to list an item or service special you’ll have for the weekend. We’re pretty flexible and will let you know if it seems something doesn’t fit.
What if I make a mistake on my listing?
Simply revisit the form page and list again, then email us at 97116artshow@gmail.com to remove the incorrect listing. If it’s not obvious which is correct, give us an identifying descriptor in your message.
Do my hours need to match the 97116 Art Show?
No, you don’t have to match our hours. We open Nov 21st with the reception 6:00-10:00PM. Then the exhibit is open Saturday and Sunday 12:00 – 4:00PM. Your hours may be whatever you like, extended or regular.
Is there a Paint the Town game this year?
No. We found the last year not many people participated and only a couple of businesses shared how it went for them. Instead of expending the effort for a complicated game, we encourage businesses to have their own giveaways to collect marketing info or traffic. Or not.
Why is 97116 Art Show only one weekend?
Our show is usually only one weekend because it creates a sense of urgency for viewers and shoppers, plus our volunteers don’t have unlimited time to host and sell the art. We have chosen the third weekend in November for a few reasons. It’s the peak start to holiday shopping and artists who create toward demand are accustomed to making work available during bazaar season. Some of us need a deadline to create new work 😉 We also didn’t want to compete with Valley Art’s long established Annual Artist Event opening the week before our show.
Stop by Artingales to color your own frame in a collaborative stop-motion animation, free. Just don’t forget to have April take the photo of your finished piece! There will be three styles to choose from, all ages welcome. Artingales offers art classes to kids and adults in various mediums.

97116 Paint the Town is a citywide Forest Grove event during 97116 Art Show. Local businesses may offer extended hours and special events inviting you to visit their establishments before and after the pop-up art exhibit. Look for more to come in November or list your business!

I’ve been in the Forest Grove/Cornelius area for 14 years and lived in Oregon all my life. I decided to start painting about 5 years ago, so I’m still sort of a beginner. I am not sure I have a painting style yet, I guess it would be “Whimsical”. I love supporting local small businesses, and participating in local markets especially around the holidays!
I’m an eclectic artist who prefers to find beauty in the obvious, the mundane, the grotesque, and the overlooked. Formally trained with an interdisciplinary fine arts degree, I create professionally and teach art to both kids and adults. Visit my website to find acrylic paintings, photography, printmaking, ceramics, and recycled art. Visit the Artingales site for the classes and workshops.
Artingales is a service based art teaching organization offering classes in various mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Classes available for kids and adults. Licensed in Forest Grove and serving families since 2016 through after school programs, youth art clubs, adult workshops, and community events. Producing and sponsoring pop-up art shows and exhibition opportunities for emerging and established artists has also become an important outreach.
Artingales is co-hosting the 97116 Art Show this year!
Gann Bros. Printing is a third generation, family owned and operated, full service print shop.
Our equipment ranges from old world hot metal typesetting machines and letterpresses to modern computer driven imagesetters and offset presses as well as a full bindery. We’re able to make black-and-white or color copies. No appointment necessary, just come on by! We will help you with all of your printing needs from small simple jobs to large complex projects.

See detailed descriptions in the Guidelines & Resources.*we are allowing mat only work to be hung on the wall, but you must bring it with the hang tabs already installed. Enter by Oct 31 & Fate of 2026We hope you’ll join the 2025 97116 Art Show! Looking forward, April’s hoping for a shadow this year to cover her in 2026.
Artists of all ages and skill levels in Columbia, Washington, and Yamhill counties are eligible to enter the pop-up 97116 Art Show, slated for exhibit at the Kathrin Cawein Gallery at Pacific University November 21-23.
We’re looking for someone or a few people this year to learn what April does for 97116 since she’ll be taking a break from producing art shows in 2026. Do you think you could handle any of the categories listed on our Volunteer Must Haves?
On that note, we will need to find a venue for 2026 since the Cawein will no longer be able to meet our reception needs after this year. Keep it in the back of your mind for mid-2026 if you know someone who owns vacant commercial spaces in Forest Grove, preferably near downtown. We try to start getting a commitment mid summer.
Have a business that wants to be involved?
All Forest Grove businesses are welcome to submit to the site FREE. You may list your special events occurring in the week surrounding the show, or just plug your product or services.
Poster sponsors need to reach out before October 15th – $50 for logo on the show poster and limited to 5 total businesses. Email April at 97116artshow@gmail.com

My apologies for previously having incorrect information on the website and the Facebook event. After avoiding Covid reinfection for 5 years, even with precautions I caught it at a 4-day convention and it had a detrimental effect on my brain that presented in more than one area. Thank you for your patience with changes – Sincerely, April
Here’s a whole bunch of information, some of it repeated from the last email. Visit that link above if you don’t know your artist number.
Maximum Quantities
[5] Exhibited pieces $150 each or less (2D hung 12″ x 12″ or smaller and/or 3D tabled at 12″ x 12″ x 12″ or smaller including frames & bases)
[3] Matted or board-backed bin work at 16″ x 20″ or smaller and $150 each or less – must have plastic protective sleeves.
[10] Cards at $10 each or less – okay to label with one sticker each, must have name, artist #, and price. Should also have plastic protection to avoid fingerprints, but not required if you don’t have the sleeves. If it’s a greeting card, you should include the envelope for the patron. Cards can be duplicates from last year, but fresh is better.
Didn’t Make Five Exhibit Pieces? – Creation date doesn’t matter, but work does have to fit size requirements and be new to the 97116 Art Show.
Labels (x 2 this year PLUS Fill out the Inventory) Use either this Word or PDF documents for labels. Just use your best handwriting if the fillable PDF fields don’t work for you. If your work is too small for affixing, securely tape it to a hang tag. Bin work needs labels too, but cards may have a sticker with artist name, artist number, and price. If there is room, you may also secure a business card to the back or bottom of your work or in sleeves of cards, etc.
Follow Display guidelines, this year 2D can be wired or attached via Command Strips that YOU provide.
Inventory prior to delivery: Every artist needs to fill out accurate inventory for each piece, plus have usual labels. This is for sales and the gallery-covered insurance once installation is complete and approved. You must list each display piece, card, and bin piece separately. The deadline for this is just before you drop your work, so do it before you bring work and make sure it matches what you bring.

We hope your experience with the show keeps you coming back. The end of this email will contain your VERY import artist number. It needs to be on every label / sticker, including each card. This is how we sell your artwork. Parents of April’s students, if you need assistance in readying for the show, talk to me.

October 12, 2024
Hello, Artists!
Despite what you may have heard, April and Emily are producing the 97116 Art Show again this year. 97116 artist and gallery director, Tyler Brumfield, reached out to ask if we’d be interested in exhibiting at the Kathrin Cawein Gallery at Pacific University. We said yes. After meeting with gallery coordinator and 97116 artist, Stevie Woods, we learned they hoped to exhibit longer than our show runs which means a few significant changes for 2024. Please take a look at the listed changes and if you’ve already registered but these aren’t acceptable, let April know and she can withdraw your entry.
What’s New:
Longer exhibit
Accurate inventory required
Two different payout dates
Choose payout method on inventory form
Only three days for dropping work
Only one day for unsold work pick up
Fewer funds for marketing
Okay to use Command strips
Pick up slip made during drop off
Gallery handles reception & no-host alcohol
Exhibit: Nov 15th – Dec 7, Live grab-n-go sales opening weekend, then online sales and red dots Nov 18-Dec 7
Inventory: Every artist needs to fill out accurate inventory for each piece, plus have usual labels. This is for sales and the gallery-covered insurance once installation is complete and approved.
Payouts: By Dec 7th for opening weekend sales, by Dec 31st for subsequent sales
Drop Artwork:
Friday Nov 8, 6:30 – 8:30PM
Saturday Nov 9, 11:00AM – 2:00PM
Sunday Nov 10, 12:00-3:00PM (okay to send someone with your work)
Pick Up Unsold Work: Sunday Dec. 8th 12pm – 4pm only, okay to send someone
Marketing: We’ll rely on a lot of word of mouth and social media sharing since the Oktoberfest fundraiser was a bust.
Display: For 2D work you have a choice between secure wiring or Command Strips ~ if the work is flush and light enough. See detailed descriptions in the Guidelines & Resources.
Pick Up Slip: When you drop your work, your pick up slip will be made and left for unsold artwork, so all of your work, bin work, and cards need to be delivered at the same time.
Reception: The reception will be Friday Nov. 15th from 6pm-10pm and all food / drinks will be facilitated by Cawein Gallery / Pacific University / Bon Appétit. Expect alcohol to be no-host.
What’s still the same:
⁃ Deadline to enter Oct 31st
⁃ No fee to enter
⁃ 12”x12” framed size max, or 12”x12”x12” for 3D including pedestal (depth & weight limits in Guidelines)
⁃ Maximum number of displayed work = 5, bin work = 3, cards = 10
⁃ Maximum price for work = $150, Cards = $10 max
⁃ All ages welcome
⁃ Artist gets 80%, Show takes 20%
⁃ Artwork must be ready for display, volunteers will not be able to add wiring or strips
⁃ Artist number must be on every piece, including cards (assigned Nov 1st, see Guidelines for more info)
⁃ Show organizers reserve the right to refuse work that does not meet requirements
⁃ Volunteers will be needed, though different tasks since the Gallery is graciously taking on the reception. The Volunteer SignUp Genius is live.

Are you an artist who likes to sell their work in a booth setting? Reach out to FGPublicArts@gmail.com before Oct 25th to ask for an application to be considered for “Fall Into Art” happening next to our show on Sat. Nov 16, 12-4pm. Brought to you by the Forest Grove Public Arts Commission.
Have work completed that you want considered for the poster? Email a sharp high quality image by October 31st.
We do hope you will find this year’s changes a positive opportunity, work will be seen in a well-lit gallery setting and for an extended period of time. Please pardon how long it’s taken this email to get to you, April is having health struggles again. That said, please assist us in getting the word out to other artists in Columbia, Washington, and Yamhill counties before October 31st. Also, talk up the Opening Reception Friday Nov 15th and exhibit dates through Dec 7th.
