Just trying to brighten up the world and trying to make people smile…. I like to be colorful and bright…line things up in rows…a spectrum of colors and subjects…I like to paint wildlife and nature with acrylic paints. My children are a major source of inspiration and encouragement for my artwork, I could not do it without them.

I am a mixed media artist turned printmaker, born and raised in Washington county Oregon. I draw much of my inspiration from the plants, creatures, and forms we share this planet with, music and sounds of all kinds, and the art and ideologies of the generations and communities that came before us. I hope you find a feeling of connection in the art surrounding you, and encourage you to take a moment to embrace it!

My mosaic art differs from most other because I use recycled linoleum and vinyl as my medium.  Since my pieces consist of discontinued samples and discarded materials, I must create my images using a limited range of color on my “palette”.  That is the challenge I enjoy, putting these materials to a new and creative use.

It all becomes art, rather than landfill!

I’ve been working with clay exclusively since 2020. I was an oil painter before. Sculpting in clay, I’m very interested in animal and human forms; what I can bring to those, how can I change, enhance or illustrate some kind of emotion in their gesture and surface. Each piece inspires me to do another.

I like colors.  Well, except for beige.  And taupe.   Other than that, the rest of the colors are in my friend group.
I am always happy when I am making art and that happiness exudes from my work and will envelop those who view the art.   Or something like that.  🙂

Most of my life I have journaled my experiences by creating images with words. My artwork combines intricate and, at times, very simple images, often inspired by nature. These pieces expanded ways to convey more color and depth to journalling becoming the stand-alone pieces you see here. I use combinations of Ink, Watercolor, and Colored Pencils to create my abstract artwork. I have long been inspired by the glassworks of Frank Lloyd Wright’s windows, Stained Glass panels in places of worship, and lamp work. I have incorporated my skills as a silversmith, jeweler and sculptor to make my one-of-a-kind artwork.

I learned how to oil paint when I was in my late thirties. I had always thought you had to be able to draw well in order to paint well. That turns out to not be true. Finding oil painting was a great way for me to express myself and I didn’t have to be good at drawing.

I come from a family of artists. My father, a well-known artist in southern India has been my source of inspiration and encouragement. My husband and I moved to Portland in 1997 and we have raised our children in the Bethany area. I took a break from serious artistic endeavors to be a stay at home mother. Since then, I picked up my paints and brushes, my first passion.

I find inspiration in Oregon’s scenic beauty which I often capture in photographs, to paint.

I now primarily work in watercolors and acrylics. I have been with Village Gallery of Arts since 2017 where I learn from and enjoy my community of fellow artists. In this recent Covid times I  started my creative journey on Instagram and I joined WSO as well.

I’ve been in the Forest Grove/Cornelius area for 14 years and lived in Oregon all my life. I decided to start painting about 5 years ago, so I’m still sort of a beginner. I am not sure I have a painting style yet, I guess it would be “Whimsical”.  I love supporting local small businesses, and  participating in local markets especially around the holidays!
