Debbie Teeter

While have worked in several forms of two and three dimensional art, I currently work mostly in watercolors, acrylic and drawing media. As a high school art teacher, I have worked and taught several types of two-dimensional media in addition to ceramics and sculpture. The breadth of this work reflects my curiosity and need for exploration and possibly my restless side. I used to favor oil over acrylic but after years of using acrylic in the classroom I became as fluent in them as I was with oil and found acrylic more versatile and less toxic. Watercolor presents its own set of challenges; I vacillate between showcasing my drawing skills in this lush medium and just wanting to explore and play. It is so much fun to capitalize on experiments and accidents or to just try something new! My favorite subject is nature. It used to be almost exclusively plants for their lush colors and shapes but I am enamored with texture as well.
