Stevie is an artist who explores fundamental questions about life, beauty, and our connection to the world through the mediums of oil and encaustic wax. Her work confronts the profound inquiries that drive her creativity: How does it feel when animals disappear from the earth? What makes someone beautiful? What is the nature of creativity itself? These questions are at the heart of her major projects, including Natural Consequences, which explores the theme of loss in the natural world; The Beautiful Project, which delves into the nature of human beauty; and Finding Jean, a personal journey into the meaning of creativity. Stevie holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Illustration with an emphasis on Drawing and Painting from the Academy of Art University. With over two decades of experience, she has dedicated her career to art education, teaching students from kindergarten through university level. She is currently a Drawing and Painting professor at Pacific University and serves as the Gallery Coordinator at the university’s Cawein Gallery in Forest Grove.
