Maureen Zoebelein

I grew up in Wading River, New York on the east end of Long Island. I spent countless hours roaming the beaches and observing and enjoying the beauty the island had to offer. Through a lifelong interest in photography, I have collected images that I use for reference in my paintings. I am always searching for images that capture the mood of the places I have traveled, whether it is a dramatic sky, flowers in a field or a cricket on a board.

During my early education I was always involved in art projects. I pursued pottery, collage, textile arts and drawing and painting. At Suffolk Community College and Buffalo State College I pursued a BFA degree majoring in printmaking. When I moved to Oregon in the mid 1970’s, I completed a degree in Clothing, Textile and Related Arts at Oregon State University. I studied textile design, graphic design and dabbled in basketry, felting, weaving and fabric printing.
Currently I work with watercolors, acrylics, colored pencils, pastels and woodcuts. I find that oils and acrylics inspire my creativity and natural expression of the subjects I respond to. Painting allows me to capture the world in the way I envision it and bring that expression for others to enjoy in my art.
Many of my paintings are influenced by the hours spent hiking, biking, paddling, cross country skiing, camping in and around the East Coast and Pacific Northwest. These experiences contribute to the imagery that I am drawn to when I paint; flowers show off their colors, skies create drama from above, and the animals and birds I catch on film, are all images that supply the inspiration for my paintings.

Chell Rosewood

My name is Chell (they/them) I am 29 (turning 30 this December), and I am a casual hobbyist artist who grew up in Hillsboro and have been practicing drawing since childhood. I started with traditional and moved to mainly digital in my early adolescence. As a neurodivergent individual (Autistic + ADHD), art and all things creative have always been my greatest passion and top favorite special interest. It allows me the freedom to express myself in a world that would otherwise rather keep people like me hidden from view. It also offers me a sense of control that’s usually hard to come by in my daily life. I can make the rules, follow them how I please, and just go with the flow of my own brain to create something beautiful, funny, or that could otherwise spark joy.

Stevie Woods

Stevie is an artist who explores fundamental questions about life, beauty, and our connection to the world through the mediums of oil and encaustic wax. Her work confronts the profound inquiries that drive her creativity: How does it feel when animals disappear from the earth? What makes someone beautiful? What is the nature of creativity itself? These questions are at the heart of her major projects, including Natural Consequences, which explores the theme of loss in the natural world; The Beautiful Project, which delves into the nature of human beauty; and Finding Jean, a personal journey into the meaning of creativity. Stevie holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Illustration with an emphasis on Drawing and Painting from the Academy of Art University. With over two decades of experience, she has dedicated her career to art education, teaching students from kindergarten through university level. She is currently a Drawing and Painting professor at Pacific University and serves as the Gallery Coordinator at the university’s Cawein Gallery in Forest Grove.

Chris Zuber

As a multidisciplinary artist, my work is a reflection of the intricate connections between different forms of expression. Through photography, painting, jewelry, and glass, I explore the interplay of light, color, and texture, inviting viewers to experience the world through a lens of creativity and emotion.

In my photography, I freeze fleeting moments, transforming the mundane into the extraordinary. Each image tells a story, revealing the beauty that often goes unnoticed. My paintings expand upon this narrative, using vivid colors and dynamic brushstrokes to evoke feelings and memories, creating a dialogue between the viewer and the canvas.

Jewelry making allows me to craft wearable art that embodies personal stories and connections. Each piece is meticulously designed, blending form and function. Glass though ubiquitous, in my skilled hands it can be turned into beautiful objects that not only can you use but wear and adorn your house with.

My artistic journey is fueled by a desire to connect with others, to inspire and provoke thought through the various mediums I embrace. I believe that art has the power to transcend human boundaries, and through my diverse practices, I aim to create a holistic experience that resonates deeply with those who encounter it.
