Anya Doll is all about layers. Primarily a fiber artist, she creates collages prayer and meditation flags with freestyle machine stitching. But she began as an acrylic painter and still enjoys building her skills using the glazing technique. This requires multiple applications of different colors upon each other to create depth and a “glowing effect.” She finds her fiber work informs her painting and enjoys that her fiber work deepens her understanding of the glazing in her paintings as well.

Emily Lux is an artist and educator focusing on the power of community building through art and personal expression. Her focus is to spread the idea that art belongs everywhere, in multiple forms, and should be accessible to everyone.

Emily has participated in shows both locally and internationally, provides collaborative venues for local artists to display their work, and serves on the Forest Grove, Oregon Public Arts Commission. Emily’s current primary artforms are community-based public murals, children’s book illustration, sketchbook work, and painting.

Georgi Frie is a Canadian-American artist who is currently based in, and originally from, Forest Grove. They graduated in 2023 with a BA in Visual Arts at Vancouver Island University in British Columbia, and have worked in the mediums of ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, and printmaking. Since returning, Frie has been working commissions, volunteering at Valley Art Gallery, and has so far taught one class there. They commonly depict vignettes of quiet moments in their imagery and have covered topics in memory, mental health, and grief. Frie aims to give earnest and specific depictions in hopes the viewer will see something they recognize and feel seen.

Heather Smith is a nature-inspired paper-quilling and mixed media artist living in Hillsboro, Oregon. She is a member of the North American and English Quilling Guilds, and Oregon Botanical Artists. Her fascination with creating art has drawn her to a variety of artistic mediums, explored over decades. Self-taught, she began paper quilling in 2014 and it now takes center stage in most of her work.

As a teaching artist, Heather enjoys sharing the unique and versatile art of paper quilling with others. She regularly gives classes at The Walter’s Cultural Arts Center and founded The Hillsboro Paper Quilling Club in 2023 to expand interest in and knowledge of paper quilling. When not in her studio, she is out in nature with her spouse of 30 years, photographing and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest, gathering inspiration for her next works.
